Description

I posted an image earlier of four major AR (Sunspot) regions on the sun (https://www.astrobin.com/vvomgh/). Things started to cloud up after the early morning captures. So that was the end of it, I thought. I kept the mount tracking and occasionally looked at the image when the clouds momentarily parted, which was infrequently.

A few hours later I glanced at the image and there was a very bright spot in AR 3372. The scope was over-exposed and out of focus, so I went over and adjusted the focus and gain to see what was happenning. And there it was, a small CME (I think) erupting from the surface. Working quickly, I got a couple of captures before the clouds rolled in again. Even during this brief couple of minutes, I could see the bright spot dimming and the dark area of the ejection expanding.

It would have been nice to get the entire event, but that's what they mean by "lucky imaging." Well at least I was partially lucky.

Enjoy.

Eric
